SMUT (2019) was a photo book created as part of the artist’s graduate project. The publication focuses on exploring female sexuality through a queer gaze, and exclusively features women working within the adult industry. The project aims to question our ideals in regards to objectification and whether it is necessarily a negative concept, as one would assume. By putting these women within a fashion context, the project aims to make the viewer question their perception of the adult industry, and open up the discourse in relation to sexual liberation and feminism. The project also underlines concepts around ways of looking, and how queer indiviuals are able to see women and female sexuality differently to our dominantly heterosexual visual culture.
